TANTRA- an overview

From the very dawn of ancient civilization of India, there were two streams of thoughts. One is VEDIC, another being TANTRA. Actually it is said: - श्रुतिस्च दिविधा ,तांत्रिकी बैदिकी चैब। SHRUTI means Veda(सोत्र-ear ) and it has got two forms. Tantra & Veda.
The basics of Veda are Vedas & Upononishads. Whereas the basics of Tantra are the various texts of Tantra.
The word Veda is derived from the DHATU “BID” meaning BIDYA or Knowledge. DHATU is the root of KRIYA (VERB).
Tantra – the lexicon meaning is to think about the rule of the states or kingdom. As a body is considered to be kingdom, the administration of the body (Latin name- SOMA) is done by Tantricism.
The synonym of Vedas is NIGAM- meaning the source of all truths and knowledge. The synonym of Tantra is AGAM- meaning the stream of all truths and knowledge.

According to the Rishis, truth can’t be created nor be destroyed. That, whatever is created in a country and is supposed to be clean is ANITYA. (That which has supposed existence.) Whatever is TRUTH that has perpetual & eternal existence. There is no dearth of Truth.
According to GITA: - Nasoto bid tayate vabo na vabo bid tayte satah. Means, the dishonest(evil) does not exist longer. There is no dearth of Honest (True) things.
One can visualize truth. Truth can never be created.
Since, both Vedas and Tantra are the storage of true knowledge, they are APOURESHEYA (Created by the transcendental power),
Knowledge is of two kinds.
Philosophical.
Scientific.

In knowledge there are two things: -
HE who knows the knowledge.
The subject of knowledge.
The act of philosophy is to find out the theory. Like: - “I am seeing the flower”. Now in the part “I am seeing”, who am I? This answer has to be sought and researched by a philosopher.
Whereas, the scientist will sought and research the ingredients of flower. Philosophy is synthesis, wherein science is analytical. The vision of science is towards the FRACTION and the vision of philosophy is towards TOTALITY.
TOTALITY without FRACTION can’t exist. Again FRACTION without TOTALITY can’t exist.
Now TOTALITY is very abstract. It is very difficult to imagine totality. By adding fractions only we can get the totality.
Again an example: - Suppose, we are in a garden. The philosopher will view the whole garden, wherein a scientist will view the trees one by one. A scientist will analyze each tree.
In Tantra the scientific part is very important. As told earlier, the science in within our body and every part of it is very important.
The concept of KULAKUNDALINI, SATACHAKRA, IDA, PINGALA, in our body, geology, botany, astronomy, psychology, sociology, political science, and many others comes under the purview of Tantra.
The changeable are under TANTRA, The unchangeable are under Vedanta. The earthly ones are changeable; therefore every earthly one comes under TANTRA.
Tantricism believes in unity among diversity, which is SAMVUTI. The inference of Vedanta is BRAMHA or knowledge or infinity. The inference of Tantra is SHAKTI or power.
When BRMHA feels to create, that is known as UCHHUNABASTHA, i.e. urge for creation. For that SHAKTI is needed. Again SHAKTI can’t create alone. So, BRAMHA comes into existence, popularly known as SHIVA. SHIVA is the consciousness.
SHIVA+SHAKTI= CREATION.
Let us suppose, there is electricity, but no tube lights, no bulbs, no fans; so what is the utility of electricity? Again, lights bulbs etc are there, but no power, what is the utility of power then?

At the end, we can infer VEDA and TANTRA are complementary to each other.
